The iTopography application is a tool for computing the surface (and perimeter) of any area. It is developed under the assumption that any area, no matter its complexity, can be approximated by a polygon. Thus, the user needs to enter the vertices (or points) of that polygon, and then iTopography will compute the area, and the perimeter.
The superiority of the iTopography application over other applications is that it offers three methods to enter these vertices (points):
- GPS Device: iTopography uses the GPS device of the mobile device to get the current location (Longitude and Latitude)
- Enter Longitude/Latitude: The user can either type in the Longitude / Latitude (and Altitude) of each point or (s)he can find that point on a map
- Enter distance / length and angle between points: This is the most difficult case, as now, the user has to enter the distance/length between two adjacent points, and the angle.
Once you enter these points to iTopography, iTopography will compute the surface and the perimeter of the area. It can also compute the surface of sub-areas, the distance between any two points, and the angle between any three points.
